Three Reasons to Support NewArts
1 A Provide challenging Arts activities which provide many opportunities for personal growth, comradery with peers and positive interactions with the community at large.
2Through our ARC Character Development program, we aim to have the confidence and inner strength demonstrated through our performing arts activities, translate into every other aspect of our participant’s lives.
A Place of Growth
3Our long-term goal is to build a “Center for Creativity” where our performing arts activities and ARC Character Development Program run year round. This is a place where optimism, passion and determination lead to fulfilling lives.
Shortly after the tragedy in Newtown, NewArts was formed to strengthen children in the community by teaching life-skills through high level performing arts activities. In the summer of 2014, we developed an original Shakespeare musical "A ROCKIN' Midsdummer Night's Dream", with both local talent and Broadway-level members of our team, in order to challenge our young participants. We gave them opportunities to exceed their own expectations of themselves. They also realized that through personal commitment, grit and dedication to one another, they can create something bigger than themselves. The Documentary Group followed us that summer; and with director Lloyd Kramer and co-producers Vulcan Inc and Participant Media the resulting film "Midsummer In Newtown" was chosen for the prestigious Spotlight Selection in the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival. Below is the official trailer for the film.
