On behalf of Dr. Baroody, the 12.14 Foundation’s board and these incredibly talented youth who want to express their creativity through the performing arts, I am asking you to help us find funding. Not necessarily from your pockets but if you have ANY connection, large or small, to ANY generous, sensitive, arts-minded, sympathetic corporations or moneyed people – PLEASE tell them about us and put us in touch with them. You can donate directly from this website. But do it fast. No arts organization operates solely on ticket sales yet careful producing, generous individuals and a phenomenally supportive community last year allowed us to do just that. However, we cannot sustain the type of work we want to do without additional financial support.

Please, help us find that financial support to keep the magic of the 12.14 Foundation doing what it does best – offering confidence-building, self-expression, creativity, community and collaboration to your children through the performing arts. Our Seussical production was all about helping children recover from the tragic events of 12.14.2012 through inspiration and leadership. With the fundamentals in place, we will focus our energies in 2014 on building awareness, fundraising, and formalizing our long-term plans for the Newtown Performing Arts Center.  We will also continue to produce professional-quality events along the way, enriching the lives of children in Newtown and beyond.

To those ends, I am delighted to announce that Scotty McCreery, platinum-selling country music performer and American Idol 10 winner, has been selected to be the Foundation’s first Goodwill Ambassador.  Scotty visited Newtown this past December and has embraced his role as a 12.14 ambassador.  More than an entertainer, Scotty is a young man of remarkable character who will represent us admirably.  More information about Scotty’s involvement with the Foundation is available here.

With just a few days to go, the 12.14 team is on final countdown for the ING Hartford Marathon 2013. Our training is done, and this week is all about rest, focus and anticipation. I'm very proud to announce that we're within reach of our $10,000 fund raising goal and, of course, so grateful to the hundreds who have sponsored us so far. The 12.14 float was built from scratch by Dr. Michael Baroody and a group of local parents and volunteers. Dr. Baroody is the 12.14 Foundation's founder. He was on hand to march in the procession, as was Michael Unger, director of the recent Seussical production. They were accompanied by a number of local parents and volunteers.  David Smiley, a Newtown resident, towed the 12.14 Foundation float.

In the end, 12.14 was awarded runner up for best float and winner of the most colorful entry!
